Canon 5D MKIII: light leak issue “officially” over
Canon has published a new product advisory notice about the light leak phenomenon on the Canon 5D MKIII. Looks like there is nothing to worry about anymore.
Phenomenon
In extremely dark environments, if the LCD panel illuminates, the displayed exposure value may change. However, based on the results of extensive testing this change in exposure value will not noticeably affect the captured image.
Affected Product
Canon EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR Camera
*Products whose sixth digit in the serial number is 1 or 2 are affected.
For example, “xxxxx1xxxxxx” or “xxxxx2xxxxxx” ([x] represents any optional number.)
Support
Under almost all shooting conditions (including dark environments) this phenomenon will not affect your captured images. However, if you would like Canon to inspect your camera, we will provide this service free of charge upon request beginning in mid-May. Please contact Canon using the information below to request service.
This information is for residents of the United States and Puerto Rico only. If you do not reside in the USA or Puerto Rico, please contact the Canon Customer Support Center in your region.

Canon 5D MKIII
Finally has arrived. Thanks to the help of Thierry and Fabrizio from Sabatini distributor I was able to put my hands on my new Canon 5D MKIII.
The Camera looks really good and it plays even better. From the first tests I made, shooting some simple pics, the performance at high iso are really good.
I also love the beautiful 3.2-inch 1,040,000 pixel LCD display and the new magnesium body.
The buttons are also well placed and the ergonomy is good.
Another great improvement is the autofocus. Finally the Mark III focuses VERY fast. I really had major problems with the MK II in this area when was dark or the subject was moving fast.
Installed Cinestyle and it works fine also with the MK III. The videos at 6400 iso looks nothing less than stunning.
I was able to prove that the Rolling shutter issue has been significantly minimized.
I’ll make some more specific tests in the next day. Probably I will also use it for an assignment on Thursday and share some more feelings about it.
Fuji X100 Focusing Tips
I’ve been shooting with the X100 for several months and it became my favourite street photography camera. Few weeks ago I used it in a Masterfile stock production and gave it to the models to simulate a couple playing around. At a certain point the male model told me he has some difficulties to focus correctly the girl in front of him.
I had the same problems in the beginning using this camera and I thought that may be useful to share few simple tips I found on Steve Huff Blog on how to increase your X100 experience.

Another walk with the Fuji X100
This morning another short walk to the market near my flat to buy some shells for lunch. I took with me my new Fuji X100 to test it.
I took a portrait of a woman that was selling vegetables just next to the fish market. Iso 800 1/200 f2. I love this camera

Remind me very old film cameras and I really love the viewfinder. Here we have a couple of pics I took during my walk. Click on the image to see a larger version.
Panasonic Lumix GH2
I’m a Canon guy, but i’ve been looking for a while for a lightweight camera to carry always with me (5DMKII or 7D with a decent lens are quite heavy). I tried the G12 for a while but i was not happy. Then I tried the GH2 and after a couple of hours I decided to go for it. Its a wonderful camera with really incredible video too.
